Karate

Tang Soo Do was first developed in Korea approximately two thousand years ago.  Over the years, it grew and evolved, at times even changing its name.  In modern times, Tang Soo Do began to flourish after Korean independence in 1945.  In 1964, the Korean government sponsored a small group of this art under the name Tae Kwon Do.  Rather than follow the same path as Tae Kwon Do, which has placed competition above being a true martial art, Tang Soo Do has retained its original name, its traditions, and the spirit of the art.
Like other martial arts, Tang Soo Do teaches its practitioners self-defense skills, while promoting daily stress release through physical fitness.  What sets Tang Soo Do apart is the "DO" way of life.  This entails the daily practice of "IN" (humanity), "UI" (righteousness), "YIE" (etiquette), "JI" (Wisdom), and "SHIN" (trust), the five virtues of "DO."
Dunner's Martial Arts Academy is the only school in Tennessee affiliated with the World Tang Soo Do Association.
